Family Law Advanced Accreditation
The accreditation covers specialist areas of family law work.
It’s a way for you to show that you’re an expert in your area of family law.
Eligibility
To apply for the Family Law Advanced Accreditation, you must be either a:
- solicitor
- chartered legal executive who has passed the
You do not need to be a member of our Family Law Accreditation.
You must have done at least 550 chargeable hours of family law work in the last three years.
You must have a general knowledge and awareness of:
- family law (not just your chosen specialist areas)
- the law outside of family law including, for example, knowledge of the law relation to will and transfers of property
You must be able to show that you have in-depth knowledge and understanding of at least two of the following areas:
- children law private
- child abduction and wardship
- cohabitation
- violence in the home
- advice in and conduct of ancillary relief
- international issues
- complex asset cases
How to apply
To apply for accreditation, you’ll need to submit a detailed application and pass an assessment.
The application process takes around six to eight weeks. It can take longer if we receive high volumes of applications or if you do not send us all the information we need.
Additional areas
If you're an accredited member, you can add up to two specialist areas (as listed above).
Re-accreditation

You can apply for re-accreditation up to three months before your accreditation expires.

Cost
You’ll need to pay an application fee to be accredited.
We’ll send you an invoice when we receive your application.
Application fees are not-refundable.
